Isabella Farrier

Hi there,

I have been doing some research into my family for a number of years now and having broken through a brick wall have discovered I have an ancestor from Belfast.

Isabella FARRIER was born in Antrim about 1810/1811 to Andrew and Bridget/Bessie Farrier. In 1828 she was transported to Australia for 7 years for stealing a cloak. This is all the information I have on her and her family in Ireland at present.

I'm looking for anyone who may have a connection r who may be able to point me in the direction of where to search. Have checked the online records I have been able to find ... Census, tithe apportionment etc ... But the family is conspicuous by their non-appearance.

Hi there,

The date of transportation is outside the dates when the government started recording Births, Deaths and Marriages.

Records where kept before this by the different Church's in Ireland.

Ofcourse not all of these records survived but many did.

When researching in Ireland before 1921 it is the most useful item, knowing the religion.

This have nothing to do with modern politics but is just a fact.

greetings

Liam

Thanks Liam. I did manage to find a baptismal record for her but, as you say, records to show date of birth or really anything to do with her pre-conviction life are non-existent.

Hi, Isabella Farrier is also an ancestor of mine.
Did you happen to find out any further info on her parents/siblings, e.g., year of birth/death and mother's maiden name?
I'm going to Belfast in a few weeks and was going to look them up.

Thanks!
