James E. HANEY/HEANEY

Post by haney » 16 Apr 2010, 07:50

Hi I'm looking for the baptism/birth record of James Edward HEANEY who was baptised in Glenavy. Co. Antrim on the 11th of April 1863. His parents are Hugh Heaney and Margaret. I've looked on the LDS site for James and siblings John, William and Alice Jane but cannot find anyone on there. Is there some way I can find the baptismal records of this family. Children would have been born from 1856 down to 1863. Many thanks kind regards Dianna

Hi Dianna,

The religion is a very important piece of information. Every religion has different archives, when they started(year) and what they recorded.

There is really no one central archive of baptisms.

Hope you can supply more info.

greetings

L

Hi L
Thanks for your reply, I'm pretty sure they were Catholic. I've been trying to contact the church in Glenavy with no success as yet but I'm not sure if St. Josephs in Glenavy began as a church at the time that James and his siblings would have been baptised. Thanks Dianna

The only church records that I could find. It is possible that FHS/LDS has filmed these as well but do not know the film numbers. PRONI is in Belfast and is due to close for a time beginning September 2010 so check their website for more details.
Most Chapels and Churches in NI are understaffed and most do not reply to requests for information due to this. Your local priest might be able to get a Baptism record from Glenavy Chapel for you.
