Houlihan

Searching for information on a John Houlihan, born about 1815-1818, died 1880. Around 1846-47, John married Mary Wase (Ware?) born 1825 (?), died 1897. (Her obituary claims she was born in "Kersey Co., Ireland.") The couple had two boys, Timothy and John Jr., born 1848-49, before emigrating to the U.S., arriving about 1856-7 and in Minnesota's Wabasha County, Oakwood Township, by about 1864. They went on to have other children: Ellen, Michael, George and Kate. This family shows up on the Minnesota 1865 census, as does a Patrick "Hollohan" in the neighboring township. That family consisted of Patrick, Mary, John, Daniel, James, Mary, Kate and Sara. Another Houlihan family shows up on the 1870 census, living near to John's family. They are: Daniel, age 39, Mary, age 43, Kate, age 13, John, age 12, Patrick, age 9, Dennis, age 6 and Mary Anne, age 5. Some of my research has led me to Cloghane Civil Parish and Castlegregory R.C. parish. However, a 2007 letter to the pastor of St. Mary's Church, Castlegregory parish, County Kerry, Ireland, asking for information received no reply.

Any help would be appreciated.
