Looking for Chaisty or Chasty

Post by Diane » 11 Mar 2006, 12:49

We are looking for the parents of Martin Chaisty born 1831 and Catherine Chaisty (wife) born 1835 from Galway. Does anyone know of this family? They later moved to Manchester, England. We think they may have had connections with Portlaw, Waterford.

It looks as though there could be a Co. Waterford connection. The only county in Ireland where the name Chasty was listed in Griffiths Valuation was Co. Waterford when the Valuation took place in that county in 1848-51 The alternative spelling of Cheasty was also listed in the Valuation of Waterford.

My Surname is Chaisty, and my Great Grand Father, lived in Waterford. They moved to Salford, next to Manchester, in mid 19th century.
