Weird emails

Post by Alexander Adams » 17 Apr 2005, 17:04

Hi All,
Has anyone else had a weird message supposedly reporting a bounced return? It is supposed to be an auto-message from "my owner".
I cancelled it as spam but it may be phishing - watch out.

Regards,
Alex

RE:-weird messages from the ezmlm program

Post by irishgen » 24 Apr 2005, 09:23

Hi Alex,

Will forward such a messages to me via the email address

antrim-owner@irishgenealogy.net

I am interested in seeing if they come via the Forum or someone pretending to be the "FORUM" I have 4 accounts on the Forum and have not had any as yet.

Or are you referring to Mail sent via the Co. Antrim Mailing that has been returned for the reason it bounced. All emails from the automatic Mailinglist server start with the following text:-

**************************************
Hi! This is the ezmlm program. I'm managing the
antrim@irishgenealogy.net mailing list.

I'm working for my owner, who can be reached
at antrim-owner@irishgenealogy.net.

****************************************

The emails never ask for any private information and only contain links or information to help you.

Hope this is enough of an explaination.

Liam
