McDill ancestry, County Antrim

Post by lazlom_53 »

I've traced my family back as far as John McDill (1675-1761) and his wife, Janet Leslie, of Broughnow, near Broughshane, Ballymena Parish. From there it goes cold however, so I'm interested in leads such as church records (they were Presbyterian), county records, etc. that can help. Family rumors mentioned ties to France, and yet I can't help but think that a mention I found elsewhere linking the McDills to the MacDonnell clan is more likely. Further, I'll be in the country in October of this year so any advance work I can get done before then will help. John and Janet had (as far as is known at this time) at least four children, Margaret (Peggy) born in 1715, Hugh born in 1717, Thomas H. born in 1725, and John (Jr.) born in 1727. Thomas and Peggy came to America in 1772 with their families and settled in South Carolina. Any and all help and assistance will be greatly appreciated!
