Anyone with imformation on the above surnames. They lived in the Ballymena/Ahoghill areas. James Campbell was born approx. 1820s and married Anne or possibly Nancy Pog or pogue. They had a son William who was born around 1840s and married Jane Coulter in Ballymena in 1865. They in turn had four sons William, James, Hugh and Thomas.

Jim;
Concernig this CAMPBELL family. Their son William had a son Thomas, do you know how and when he died and who he married?
I am looking for a Thomas CAMPBELL who married a Catherine HATTON who had two daughters, they were twins. Catherine and her girls lived in Scotland after Thomas died from an accident. Can you please tell me if this is a connection?

Thanks,
Sharon

Sharon;
Sorry, There appears to be no connection to Thomas. Thomas married twice in Glasgow none to Catherine Hatton. Are you a Campbell? Do you have connections to Ballymena/Ahoghill/Glasgow. I would be interested to know, there may be other links. Sorry for the delay.
Thanks

As you can guess I'm kinda new to this.

I have been able to trace my Campbell line from Glasgow to Ireland. My earliest confirmed information identifes William Campbell marrying a Jane Coulter in Ballymena in 1865. Their sons Wm, James and Hugh were born in Ahoghill nearby. Thomas Campbell was born in Glasgow in 1881.

Unfortunately I have been unable to identify any of the other surnames you have listed.

I am in the process of setting up a genealogy group with msn I will send you an invitation to join if you wish. If you do, then there will be two members.

Thanks

Jim

COULTER, RAINEY

Still trying to piece together a family tree for a friend with the surnames COULTER and RAINEY.

The Coulter that we know of is

William RAINEY married Jane COULTER Dec 1887 in Kirkinriola

Marriage certificate gives Jane's fathers name as Alexander also listed on the marriage certificate are two witnesses James Coulter and Eliza Coulter. We believe this to be brother and sister of Jane.

William and Jane had four children that we can find

Lizzie, Alexander, William and Jeannie (born 1896)

Do you have conntections to this ahoghill, ballymena family?

I have no connections I know of to the other members of your family but the name Jane Coulter does interest me. I have as yet not progressed this research but am able to say that my jane coulter was born in 1835 to John coulter and Martha logan. She married William Campbell in Ballymena in 1865.

I would be grateful if you could tell me more about your coulter research.

I dont know if you have realised that someone ielse in this room is also asking for the same information.

Yours Jim

Thanks

CAMPBELL / POGUE / COULTER

Hi folks.
The information below may be a bit dated since the last posting was some time ago.
WILLIAM CAMPBELL married JANE COULTER on the 28 September 1867, in 2nd Presbyterian Church, Ballymena, by licence, by the Rev., Buick.
The groom, full age, a widower, farmer, resided Ballybollan ??.
His father, JOHN CAMPBELL, a farmer.
The bride, full age, a spinster.
Her father, JOHN COULTER, a farmer.
Witnesses, JOSEPH McDOWELL and HUGH CAMPBELL.

I have only 3 children to this couple on my computer.

1. ADAM, born 16 August 1872. Christened 26 August 1872.
2. HUGH, born 6 November 1873. Christened 28 November 1873.
3. JAMES. born 15 February 1876. Christened 3 December 1876.

The above from the records of 2nd Presbyterian Church, Ballymena.
P.R.O.N.I., film reference, MIC / 1P / 204.

My wife is the Campbell connection and this is material she collected over the years. She does not know if there is a link to her line, as they came from the Kells and Connor area.

She has a connection to Pollockshaw, Glasgow.

Regards,
Dixie

Hi Dixie
Sorry for not getting back to u sooner but only just opened up the site again after months of abscence. I have an extended campbell family traced from the same origins as ur wife has. So much of the research is the same. I have a full history from when they arrived in Glasgow. I would be happy to discuss this further with u and to exchange family information. the best way would be through email or msn messenger if u have it.

Hello from New Zealand. I am researching the Moore family from Ballymena, Antrim
They have a link to "Coulter". James Moore & Rose Coulter were married in Ballymena in 1882
Rose Coulter (stated on the marriage certificate) as born in Scotland.
James & Rose had a son William John Moore born 1883 in Antrim, Ireland. He came to New Zealand and married in 1909 Wellington NZ.
His mother was Rose Coulter. William John Moore disappeared from NZ records around 1909-10 He might have left NZ going back to Ireland, Australia, USA, Tasmania, etc.
