Looking for the family of John McFadyen and Susannah Shields, (was told John was originally from Mull, Susannah from Govan, Glasgow), daughter Bridget born 1794, Anthony abt 1804, John abt 1809, All children marry in Donegal but return to Scotland between 1832 and 1841.

Bridget married Samuel Grey (son of Samuel Grey and Isabella McIntyre) abt 1825, Anthony marries Julia McGrory (daughter of Peter McRora and Grace Downie), John marries Ann McCallum(or McCallion), daughter of Patrick McCallum and Elizabeth Brown). Only area name I have is Miltown, where John and Ann's daughter Susan was born abt 1839.

any advice on next steps appreciated

thanks

Janette

There are 7 townlands named Milltown in Co. Donegal. They are to be found in the parishes of Raymoghy, Convoy, Conwal, Donegal town, Gartan, Killymard & Raphoe. The RC parish records are on-line free on the National Library site:

http://registers.nli.ie/parishes

Unfortunately not all of the parishes have records for the dates you are interested in.

I looked in the 1901 census for the county. There are 574 people of the surname listed (various spellings). None in any of the Milltowns though.
