1865 - Experiments with Telephones

Post by Christopher » 21 Apr 2009, 16:03

Stephen Mitchell Yeates (1832- 1901) followed his father and started running the family business, "Instrument Makers and Opticians" ("instrument makers to the University")
at 2, Grafton Street, Dublin, in 1865. Some of the scientific instruments made by Yeates
and Son still exist today in Trinity College. In the same year that he started running the business Yeates purchased a Reis phone from a Mr. W. Ladd of London and conducted
some experiments with this machine http://www.ilt.columbia.edu/projects/bl ... art10.html
